“Shia-Islam” is a multi-volume study to provide a sound over-view about Shia Islam. It presents the thinking, the Koranic exegesis, the history, the beliefs and the practice of faith of the Shia from the point of view of the Imamites world community. In this volume, Shia Islam is treated as a religious phenome-non and focuses on some brief thought and belief. The content of this volume is seen as a contribution to the discourse on Shia thinking in general and on the position of Shia worldview in Europe in particular. Of special interest is the teaching of Shia beliefs in universities and colleges.

The aim of this study is to provide thought impulses for broadening one’s horizons, which lead to further encounters with the Shiite worldview and what is reflected in it. It therefore intended to present the main ideas and main characteristics of Shiite thought and faith in a transparent and understandable manner for the current European generation - and especially for an academic audience. It would like to provide the reader with current information on key topics of the Islamic religion, in order to be able to deal with European and non-European Shiites without misunderstandings and prejudices.

This study series “Shia Islam” - as part of Shiite thought and faith - shows a rational trait and is imbued by the spiritual spirit. It is also based on the idea of the unity of knowledge that fills it, and accordingly it does not allow contradictions to apply among the Islamic systems, but considers in them only different forms of expression of one and the same truth. It presents the Shiite moral, spiritual and rational teachings in the form of core treatises - and gives them a concise expression. After decades of living in Europe, I noticed that people today are increasingly looking for authentic sources about Shia Islam. For various reasons, people are interested in Shia Islam and would like to learn more about it. But when they search for the authentic sources or ask about the real topics about “Shia Islam”, they find that there are only a few books about it - especially in the German-speaking world. Therefore, in 21st century it is an urgent necessity to present Shia Islam and especially its spirituality through studies and books. This study has been carried out to fulfill this need.

The aim of this study is to make it clear that the heritage of Shiite thought and the importance of its representatives become all the more apparent the more one devotes oneself to the social thinkers in Islam and uncovers the contours of their most important thoughts. The preservation of the identity of the Islamic world community (Ummah) in today’s world is of great relevance, and it can only continue to exist if Muslims can remain in close contact with their history - and especially with their history of faith. This leads to a dialogue based on the perception and understanding of the other. To illustrate this fact, three themes are dealt within this volume: - In the mirror of pastoral thinking. - In the mirror of political thinking. - In the mirror of economic thinking.

“Historical thinking” in Islam is not exclusively concerned with the narrative of historical events, but also does not want to be understood merely as a narrative of meaning. It is mainly about the historical dimension and, above all, about the historical thinking of Islam. “History” is widely regarded as a central aspect of Islamic thought as a whole and brings with it a historical research area that focuses on both religious and cultural areas in a religious context: Historical thought. The historical thought of Shia Islam, which itself is in the light of the Quran, aims to show the causes of negative and positive developments, which, despite all the differences between individuals and societies, have always been the same.

The consequence of encountering the Shiite monotheistic view is a plausible faith that connects people with the Creator and leads them to a strong love. In this sense, we read the following in the Hl. Quran: “...But those who believe are stronger in love for Allah ...” The Shiite monotheistic view makes it clear that the deepest essence of God is love and that He wants to take us humans into His care and reconcile us with Himself. God is not only the generally merciful, but the gracious, saving God who makes his acts of salvation cost a lot. God is not only the God who is completely free in His will, but above all the faithful, loving Creator on whom his lovers can rely, since „they love him and he loves them.” This study is a humble endeavor in search of a solid and accurate knowledge that will bring us closer to our Lord and guide us on the path of salvation and lead us to bliss in this life and the hereafter.

At the beginning of the 21st century, we find ourselves in what has been described by the author as a “post God is dead age”, where book after book is written that simply rejects the existence of God. Therefore, our students of theology, religious studies and philosophy who want to learn about the unfolding of the Quranic image of God would like to receive it in as compact form as possible. This is the core of the Islamic doctrine. In the search for truth, or rather on the path of encountering and finding God, many people and especially students would like to learn about the Quranic image of God. Monotheism, or Tauhid, i.e., the theology of the unity and oneness of God, is one of the most fundamental principles of the theological teachings of the Hl. Quran. There are few verses in the Quran in which the name of God is not mentioned, either directly or indirectly. All these names point to the oneness and uniqueness of God, to monotheism. The Islamic image of God, which has its origins in the prophetic traditions and ultimately in the Quran, is a purely monotheistic image of God. Yes, Islam is a monotheistic religion, i.e. it confesses only one God. This puts it in a group with the Jewish and Christian religions and completes their doctrine of God.

This volume of the series “Shia Islam” has been written to present the basic viewpoints of Shia Islam on justice, which are of particular importance in our age: - to be presented transparently, - to show the way to her, - to follow her faithfully, - become familiar with justice as the basis for peace, - to promote good human coexistence. The topic is treated here neither from a secular nor from a revelatory religious perspective, but exclusively from the perspective of Shia Islam. Justice, i.e. “Idalah”, is explained by the word “Adl”, which is used both as a term and as a principle. As a term, justice has two main definitions, namely: a. to give each one what is his right. b. to put him in the place he deserves. Because of the importance of justice and its study to explain the balance and its share in creation, as well as the recognition of the attributes of the sublime Creator (“that He is just and reigns with justice), it has been repeatedly emphasized in Islam. Two important words of: - justice (العدل) and - balance/equality (القسط) were used to express the concept of justice more accurately. Traditionally justice has been divided into the following main titles: - divine justice, - individual justice, and - social justice.

An-Nubuwwa, i.e. prophethood, and Al-Risala, i.e. calling, are among the three most fundamental pillars of faith in Islam, along with At-Tauhid (doctrine of God) and Al-Maad (eschatology), which are to be believed in without coercion or violence. The messengers are “chosen people” who are honored with prophethood and begin their sacred calling. Many prophets are spoken of, but only 25 of them are named in the Quran. The exalted Creator keeps His creation with the covenant that is made with the prophets through revelation. The covenant is actually the key of creation, which is constantly made with people or reminds them of it. The universal calling of the Prophet Muhammad concerns all people, and he is sent to all people to: - to get the message across, - To build landmarks of guidance and beacons of light, - to put people on the right path, - strengthen the ropes of Islam, - justify the doctrine of the faith and to guarantee people an eternal salvation (through faith and good deeds).

The Imamate is a foundation of the Islamic faith that must not be imitated. It should ideally be internalised by every believer through argumentation. The Imamate was the most authentic source of revelation both during the time of the Prophet (s) and after his demise. Imamate is a kind of mediation between God and the community. Just like the Prophets, the Imams are infallible both in their private lives and in their doctrinal decisions. Through the Imamate principle, the revelation of the Quran was interpreted. In particular, its hidden meaning, which the believers themselves cannot understand, was brought into the light. 1. Just as prophethood, the Imamate - as its completion - is to be ordained by God. It is only the task of a Prophet to bestow the blessings of the Imamate. That is why Prophet Muhammad (s), just like all prophets, determined his successorship and announced it to the people. 2. Just like the prophets, their successors are also supposed to be chosen by God. According to the Shiites, only on a person chosen by Prophet Muhammad (s) could the blessings of the Prophet (s) rest. Moreover, God Himself chose the Imam for the Imamate and communicated this to Prophet Muhammad (s) before his demise. 3. The Imamate is given to a person chosen by God. 4. The Imam as the successor of Prophet Muhammad (s) and the Imamate as the completion of his calling, are supposed to be sinless and infallible.

The doctrine of the resurrection is an important part of Islamic religious doctrine and theology. Unlike other truths of faith, the doctrine of the hereafter is an area where one can only rely on the indications of the prophets and revelation, as no one has come back from the hereafter to notify us of what the situation there is. We, as living people, are not able to look into the world beyond and see for ourselves what happens or will happen after death. In order to have a clear picture of the afterlife, we need the religious doctrine of the afterlife. For this reason, the degree of man's faith in the afterlife depends on his belief in the principle of prophethood and also in the truth of the messages of the prophets. The belief in the Last Day and the “life after life” was taught by all the messengers. This treatise deals with an important present and future problem of humanity, namely the hereafter in general and the relationship between the hereafter and this world in particular. This treatise also includes what ideas Islam has about this and what information this religion can give us about the next life and the position of human beings in it. In addition, the solutions that Islam offers for preparing for the afterlife and the opportunities it holds for Muslims in their relationship with themselves are dealt with here.

Through this study, one will not only come to know the Quran, but also Islam, the angels, the Prophet Muhammad (s), his successors (the Ahl-ul-Bait), other people and of course oneself - as a “reader of the Word”. It also makes the Muslim aware of the meaning of the Quran and gives guidance on how to understand and use the Quranic revelation in life. The human being of Islam is not - as Western philosophy defines him - a speaking and reasoning animal (الحیوان الناطق), but it is a “living reader” (الحی القاري) who has been created to enable itself to regain its lost position in paradise by reading the word. This connection takes place in a “dialogue of salvation” between God and man, and man - as the “reader of the Word” - enters into a living dialogue with the Creator through reading. The theologian Karl Rahner says that listening and questioning are the expressions of being human. Only in listening does a person become a human being. Man listens to what corresponds to him. This opinion is only valid in Christian theology of revelation, but it is too little for Islamic theology of revelation: - In Islamic theology of revelation, it is mainly not listening and questioning that are the determinants of being human, but “reading”, perceiving, questioning and criticizing. - For Christianity, the Word is fundamental, as is the identity of message and messenger, Gospel and Jesus Christ (s). - But for Islam, the Word is fundamental, as is the Message, the Messengers, the Quran and the Prophet Muhammad (s). - In Christian word theology, man - as a listener to revelation - opens himself to the word because he himself is imperfect. He is therefore dependent on something that is outside of him. - In Islamic word theology, man - as a “reader of the word” - opens himself to the word that is in the Quran because he himself is imperfect. - In Christianity, one deals passively with the word, but in Islam actively. Here one is not only a listener, but also a “reader” in an active form. Here, one must empower oneself to read the Word, to understand its content and to put its teachings into practice in one’s life.

This is in reality the very best distinction, that the coronation of creation (man) is given the crowning of the Word of God (the Koran) for reading. How to imagine the feelings of the one who reads the message of his lover and becomes a reader of his love letter? The enthusiasm is high, because through the Koran man rises from listening to reading and becomes “reader of the Word”: “Read!” And because of this God-given ability, he becomes: - Reader of the Book of Nature. - Reader of the book of his self. - Reader of his behavioral book. - Reader of the Book of Revelation. The reading of the Koran is so important that praying has been prescribed for its sake. In this sense, Imam Ridha (s) said: “People have been obliged to read the Koran in prayer, so that the Koran will not be abandoned, forgotten and unused: so that it may be preserved and not disappear and remain unknown.” The main goal of reading the Koran is to understand its meanings, to reflect on its verses and to act according to what is written in it - according to the words of God the Exalted. But it is not possible for everyone to find their way in the seas of life conflicts and become “readers of the word”. You should have learned it, and for that you need training: a methodology or a hermeneutic. Here a hermeneutic of reading is proposed, which is indispensable for dialogue with the Word of God: “Hermeneutics of the Word.”

“On the Sense Horizon of the Word” is a study that attempts to broaden the horizons of valued readers with regard to the Islamic understanding of revelation and to show them appropriate approaches to it. This is a study of understanding that encompasses further topics. This teaching of understanding also brings with it a practice of living in order: 1. to arouse the highest non-violent hermeneutic interest in people, 2. to make them aware of their own identity as "readers of the word", 3. to show them to the wide Qur'anic horizon of revelation. The Shiite religious system, based on the Quran and the Sunnah of the Prophet and the Imams, uses its spiritual-rational method to deal with these sources in such a way as to make these teachings accessible to human beings: a. Realized here and now and b. makes them applicable in people's lives. That is why this contact is not the end, but only a beginning! It aims to answer the question of what the Islamic understanding of revelation is. It therefore contains basic teachings about the Holy Quran. It also covers topics such as: - “revelation“, - “inspiration“, - "prophethood" and - "leadership", They are important for a better understanding of the Qur'anic revelation and enable its authentic interpretation.
