Volume 3 (Spirituality) serves both devout Shiites and interested people who want to get to know Shia Islam and focuses on two main topics: anthropology and supplication. This volume - as part of Shiite thought and faith - has a rational trait and is imbued with the spiritual soul.

We Muslims understand spirituality not only as a private matter in a quiet room, but also claim to make spiritual values the norm of our lives.

After decades of living in Europe, I noticed that people today are increasingly looking for authentic sources on Shiite Islam in order to find a plausible explanation for their existence. For various reasons, people show interest in Shia Islam and would like to learn a little more about it. People are looking for answers to the questions of faith, life, suffering and inevitable death. They seek a religious connection to spiritual contexts, and they seek - to put it simply - comfort that no other spirituality can give them in the long term and with a well-founded background.

Some people of our time strive for moral values and norms in order to determine their way of life - be it individual-private or social-societal - and to realize it in an Islamic way. But if they look for the authentic sources or ask about the actual problem of “Shia Islam”, they find that there are only a few books on Islam - and especially on its spirituality - in the German-speaking world. Therefore, in the 21st century, it is an urgent necessity to present Shia Islam and its spirituality. This study was created beside the background of this necessity.

In other words, it was out of this plight that we came up with the idea of taking a closer look at the spiritual dimension of Shia Islam. We therefore asked ourselves whether we could borrow from Islamic religious education in order to be able to answer the concrete questions about the view of Shia Islam that we represent. It has since been found that the reason for the lack of knowledge about Shia Islam is the textbooks and academic texts.

These topics are covered in detail as part of Shiite spiritual thought and their educational, psychological, social, mystical - and most importantly - spiritual benefits are mentioned. Regarding supplication, some burning questions are asked, which may occupy many people:

  • Why do people pray?
  • Why do people pursue God?
  • Why should one pray only to God or worship Him alone?
  • Do other creatures also pray?
  • Who prays with the people?
  • What is the goal of prayer and worship?

Furthermore, topics such as “Prayer and Eternity” and “The Universal Claim of Prayer” will be dealt with here.

It is also the vocation of this study to awaken people and remind them of their God-seeking nature through the presentation of the spirituality of Shia thought and faith. That is why she is concerned with Shiite anthropology. It is actually the human being who thirsts for spirituality. The question is:

  • Who is the human being?
  • Is he free to decide?
  • Can he see God?
  • What does “seeing the heart” mean?
  • What does predestination mean?
