Volume 8 aims to impart a profiled knowledge to present a discourse on justice and to explain its religious aspects, philosophical backgrounds and to make everyone - and especially the Shiites - aware of their social responsibility. This is a great responsibility that helps everyone to be able to contribute with the newly illuminated knowledge about the Shiite discourse on justice to the fact that the reader lives justly and treats others fairly, both in his private life and in society.

In the discourses on justice, different positions are taken on justice and injustice. The revealed religions also developed certain discourses in this regard on their own. No alert heart will therefore want to escape this when the revealed religions speak of justice in their vocation. However, in our view, it is not at all about the justified indignation about the injustice of the world. For us Shiites, justice is much, much more. It is the way God turns to us. God’s essence is justice, and His plan for private and societal, for social and governmental affairs is justice.

Justice is a main theme of the Holy Quran and the Sunnah of Prophet Muhammad and his Ahl-ul-Bait. The Holy Quran says: “God commands that justice be done!” The Prophet Muhammad (s) also says about the importance of justice: ”One hour of justice is better than seventy years of worship during which his nights worship and his days fast.” This multifaceted principle encompasses everything we have as human beings: “Justice is the empowerment of the people,” said Imam Ali (s). The Imam also said, “Justice is the measure of all things.” And the exalted Prophet Muhammad (s) and Imam Ali (s) said that: “The heavens and the earth are based on justice.

Justice, i.e. “Idalah”, is explained by the word “Adl”, which is used both as a term and as a principle. As a term, justice has two main definitions, namely:

  • to give to each one what is his right

or/and

  • to position him in the place he deserves.

If we look at justice from a broad perspective, we will see that in all Islamic programs, the issue of justice and balance and the avoidance of extremes has been addressed in some way, such as:

- Justice in worship and adoration.

- Justice at work and fun.

- Justice in love and anger.

- Justice for friend and foe.

- Justice in production and consumption.

- Justice in encouragement and resin.

- Justice in the division of property and in relation to the will of personal property.

- Justice for married couples, children, friends and colleagues.

- Justice in the judgment, also regarding the parties to the dispute in court.

- Justice in War and Peace.

- Justice in the treatment of animals.

- Justice in the use of natural resources.
